Stop Running and Live
The art of resting the mind and the power of dismissing from it all care and worry is probably one of the secrets of our great men. ~Captain J.A. Hatfield~
With our busy and fast paced lifestyles it is often easy to become so lost in the worries and concerns of the day, that we lose sight of the power that comes from simply taking rest, and allowing those worries to pass from our thoughts. Making time for adequate rest, quiet reflection, and contemplation of the truths which come from above, can truly provide the strength to face each new day, and each new set of challenges.
Thought for the day
Have I learned to get off the merry go round of my own crazy life or am I still going N.U.T.S. trying to fit everything I’d like to do in today? Do I realize and accept that all I am doing is sabotaging my own recovery and running from myself when I overload my day? N.U.T.S – Not Utilizing the Steps
And the ones sown among the thorns are others who hear the Word; Then the cares and anxieties of the world and distractions of the age, and the pleasure and delight and false glamour and deceitfulness of riches, and the craving and passionate desire for other things creep in and choke and suffocate the Word, and it becomes fruitless. And those sown on the good (well-adapted) soil are the ones who hear the Word and receive and accept and welcome it and bear fruit–some thirty times as much as was sown, some sixty times as much, and some [even] a hundred times as much.
~Mark 4:18-20 (Amp)~
Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we going to have to eat? or, What are we going to have to drink? or, What are we going to have to wear? For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all. But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides. So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow…
~Matthew 6:31-34 (Amp)~
So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who enter into God’s rest will find rest from their labors, just as God rested after creating the world. Let us do our best to enter that place of rest. For anyone who disobeys God, as the people of Israel did, will fall.
~Hebrews 4:9-11 (NLT)~
