There is still Good News…
When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it…always.
When we look at all of the things happening in our world (wars, abortion, violation of human rights, religious persecution, ethnic cleansing, euthanasia, cloning, corporate greed) sometimes we wonder if truth and love will ever prevail and whether mankind will ever fully realize the promise of “peace on earth, good will toward men”. When we focus on all the bad news, rather than the Good News we have been given, a sense of quiet desperation and hopelessness can overtake us. Don’t allow yourself to lose sight of the promise…know and understand, that it all begins in us. As we allow the light of truth and love that has been placed within us, through the Holy Spirit, to shine brightly it will impact our little world.
Thought for the day
So how can “little ole me and you make a difference? Just by keeping our street swept and clean for others to see. Please remember in most situations you face daily either you can be changed by the environment or you can change the environment. Who knows, if enough of us see and speak the beauty and truth of a godly life we might just fill the entire earth with His peace!
Therefore, [inheriting] the promise is the outcome of faith and depends [entirely] on faith, in order that it might be given as an act of grace (unmerited favor), to make it stable and valid and guaranteed to all his descendants–not only to the devotees and adherents of the Law, but also to those who share the faith of Abraham, who is [thus] the father of us all. As it is written, I have made you the father of many nations. [He was appointed our father] in the sight of God in Whom he believed, Who gives life to the dead and speaks of the nonexistent things that [He has foretold and promised] as if they [already] existed.
~Romans 4:16,17 (Amp)~
God himself was pleased to live fully in his Son. And God was pleased for him to make peace by sacrificing his blood on the cross, so that all beings in heaven and on earth would be brought back to God. You used to be far from God. Your thoughts made you his enemies, and you did evil things. But his Son became a human and died. So God made peace with you, and now he lets you stand in his presence as people who are holy and faultless and innocent. But you must stay deeply rooted and firm in your faith. You must not give up the hope you received when you heard the good news. It was preached to everyone on earth, and I myself have become a servant of this message.
~Colossians 1:19-23 (CEV)~
Heavenly Father, let us be mindful of our own personal responsibility to bring about positive change in our world. Help us to stop navel gazing (our own) long enough to recognize the reality of the world we live in. Help us to become beacons of your light, that most special light that has illumined our paths and brought us out of the bleak darkness we lived in for so long. Help us to see clearly the beautiful path you are showing us daily, that we might trudge together the road to happy destiny you desire for us. Help us to help others, so that in doing so, we can help ourselves. We ask this in the name above all names, the name of your son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
