Living in the Moment…
One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon–instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today. ~Dale Carnegie~
How true it is, that we often expend so much of our time, energies and thought life focused on some future ideal or event that we fail to recognize the many wonderful experiences and blessings available to us each and every day. Life becomes rich and full when we learn to live for this day, in the now, walking in awareness of what each encounter and moment holds for us. If we learn to do this we remain open to all the beauty, joy and opportunity that always surround us.
Thought for the day
John Lennon said “Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans.” Is this true for us? Have I really mastered or am I even trying to stay present to this moment? Have I learned that the worst thing I can do as a recovering addict is to be up in my head, tempting myself with things of old or future fantasies? How about obsessing about things beyond our control and people who we want to get even with? The answer to all my life’s problems lies in my ability to see the truth, here and now!
I thank you for answering my prayer and saving me! The stone rejected by the builders has now become the cornerstone. This is the LORD’s doing, and it is marvelous to see. This is the day the LORD has made.We will rejoice and be glad in it. ~Psalm 118:21-24 (NASB)~
“Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself…”
~Jesus / Matthew 6:31-34 (NASB)~
