Defining Moments…define us
When a defining moment comes along, you can do one of two things. Define the moment, or let the moment define you. ~The Movie “Tin Cup”~
It’s a fairly simple matter for most, to exhibit admirable qualities and traits during times of relative comfort and ease. But only during times of either great triumph and victory, or great adversity and distress, are the true character and intents of the heart revealed. We need to pay attention to these “defining moments”, and our responses to them. They provide a measure of our faith, not only to us, but others as well. Will you be negatively influenced and defined by these circumstances, or use them as an opportunity to, in humility, demonstrate your unwavering faith?
Thought for the day
How are you handling your adversities today? Are you freaking out, running from them or honestly and responsibly facing them. When you are overwhelmed, and you will be, speak about your feelings, share them with others, and bring the fears and the pain to the light. Don’t hide from life…don’t despair in the darkness. Know that God resides in the light and He awaits your call.
Then his wife said to him, Do you still hold fast your blameless uprightness? Renounce God and die! But he said to her, You speak as one of the impious and foolish women would speak. What? Shall we accept [only] good at the hand of God and shall we not accept [also] misfortune and what is of a bad nature? In [spite of] all this, Job did not sin with his lips. ~Job 2:9,10 (Amp)~
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body…We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; ~2 Corinthians 4:6-10,13~
You are the light of the world…Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, notable, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
~Jesus – Matthew 5:14,16 (Amp)~
