Talk the Talk, but also…Walk the walk
My life is my message. ~Mahatma Gandhi~
How we conduct ourselves in our daily affairs, and respond to the various circumstances we face, has far more impact on others than anything we may say or profess. We must always strive to be a living example of that which we believe, hold to be true and expect of others. Don’t think that no one is watching or noticing when we fail to exhibit the character that we tout or demand from those we influence or touch…they are, and they do!
Thought for the day
Turn the other cheek, forgive not once but 7 X 70 times, clean up our sidewalk before we complain about our neighbors, give till it is meaningful, not just from our surplus, say hello to and invite the lowly to our party, love our enemies not just our friends and family, etc., etc., etc. When was the last time we smiled at and said hello to the Spanish busboy that cleaned off our table? How about in our fellowship; when was the last time that after a meeting we went up to a newcomer, welcomed him, hugged him, gave him our telephone number and told him to call us? It is not the rhetoric that matters… but our actions that truly count. Are we truly wonderful examples of Christian living?
Just as shepherds watch over their sheep, you must watch over everyone God has placed in your care. Do it willingly in order to please God, and not simply because you think you must. Let it be something you want to do, instead of something you do merely to make money. Don’t be bossy to those people who are in your care, but set an example for them. Then when Christ the Chief Shepherd returns, you will be given a crown that will never lose its glory.
~1 Peter 5:2-4 (CEV)~
And show your own self in all respects to be a pattern and a model of good deeds and works, teaching what is unadulterated, showing gravity [having the strictest regard for truth and purity of motive], with dignity and seriousness. And let your instruction be sound and fit and wise and wholesome, vigorous and irrefutable and above censure, so that the opponent may be put to shame, finding nothing discrediting or evil to say about us. ~Titus 2:7,8 (Amp)~
…Be an example to all believers in what you teach, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. ~1 Timothy 4:12 (NLT)~
