Learn to be Still…
I felt in need of a great pilgrimage so I sat still for three days and God came to me. ~Kabir~
So often, we feel like we must be in continual motion, always physically working toward a desired result. We become so wrapped up in “doing” that we miss some of the greatest revelations which frequently come during times of stillness and silent meditation. Our daily lives can become extremely hectic, and often it seems there just aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything done that “needs” our attention. Learning to take the time to simply be still and listen can return great reward. A new revelation may disclose those things which are truly most important, and wherein our real strength lies.
Thought of the day
Sometimes to really understand life we must be about the business of being not about the business of doing. Next time you feel the urge to keep doing, to keep riding the merry-go-round, you may want to ask yourself; why can I not learn to be still, what am I really running from?
Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
~Exodus 14:13,14 (NIV)~
Be still and rest in the Lord; wait for Him and patiently lean yourself upon Him; fret not yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger and forsake wrath; fret not yourself–it tends only to evildoing. ~Psalm 37:7,8 (Amp)~
But those who wait on the LORD will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. ~Isaiah 40:31 (NLT)~
