A Disciplined Approach…
Discipline is the refining fire by which talent becomes ability. ~Roy L. Smith~
Why is it that so many individuals with tremendous knowledge and talent, are seemingly unable to utilize their gifts to achieve all that they are capable of? What is lacking is the focus and discipline required to turn that talent into meaningful ability. May we all gain the necessary strength of commitment, to allow the work do be done in us that must be done…in order for the God-given talents that have been borne in us to flourish, and accomplish their intended purpose. Remember…success begins at home!
Thought for the day
Do we use our talents to the fullest? Are we jealous of the accomplishments of those who seem to have less skill than us? How about our neighbor…you know, the one who seems to have the perfect marriage. His wife and kids seem to love him so. Why do you suppose that is? Perhaps we need to look at our focus, discipline and overwhelming desire to do things our way? Are we bound to corporate success? Are we too busy looking up while climbing that we are forgetting all those around us? Where is it that we are spending our time? Are we at the country club, the office, the bar with the boys, playing golf or fishing every chance we get? Always remember, there is no amount of success outside the home that can make up for failure inside the home. Am I using my talents as God would have me use them?
Know also in your [minds and] hearts that, as a man disciplines and instructs his son, so the Lord your God disciplines and instructs you. ~Deuteronomy 8:5
The purpose of these proverbs is to teach people wisdom and discipline, and to help them understand wise sayings. Through these proverbs, people will receive instruction in discipline, good conduct, and doing what is right, just, and fair. ~Proverbs 1:2-3 (NLT) ~
Be patient when you are being corrected! This is how God treats his children. Don’t all parents correct their children? ~Hebrews 12:7 (NLT) ~
For this reason I remind you to kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. ~2 Timothy 1:6-7 (NASB) ~
