28-01: Persevere…in battle

Persevere…in battle

Quote
He conquers who endures. ~Persius~

Meditation
It is only through steadfast endurance that we can overcome all obstacles, achieve ongoing victory in our lives, and obtain our ultimate destiny.  Virtually any worthwhile undertaking will be fraught with difficulties and trials that will test your faith in the vision you have been given.  Each battle is won through consistency of purpose, and a single-minded focus on the end result.  Never take your eyes off of the prize, and one by one, the things that serve to hinder you will slowly disappear!

Thought for the day
Preoccupation with self separates us from God, from our fellow human beings and ultimately from ourselves. We must relearn to forget ourselves, to contemplate a God who draws us out of ourselves and to serve others as the ultimate expression of selfhood and true recovery
You’ve heard it said that “anything worth having is worth fighting for” and nothing should be worth more to us than our sobriety and our recovery.  Unfortunately there are forces (if you’ve been addicted you should know them intimately) that are hell-bent on keeping you from your encounter with God.  Those forces do not present themselves with horns and capes.  No, they present themselves in inviting looks, appealing billboards, heavy workloads, mounting bills, sicknesses and assorted reasons we can’t make meetings or make that phone call. The only way to defeat them is to give up the battle to the One with whom we pray to.
By keeping our focus on Him, reading about Him, learning how to love Him and thinking of Him throughout our day we develop that special mindfulness and daily contact that guarantees the assurance of our recovery and the defeat of the Evil One.  So, let’s work on the solution today. Let’s stay in the one place we know where our loving God resides, in the present.  That is all we need to do to claim personal victory.

Scriptures
You know how we call those blessed (happy) who were steadfast [who endured].  You have heard of the endurance of Job, and you have seen the Lord’s [purpose and how He richly blessed him in the] end… James 4:11 (Amp) ~

In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides].  Put on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able to successfully stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil.  For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.  Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands] to stand [firmly in your place}. ~Ephesians 6:10-13 (Amp)~

About SLAA Tilburg
