Practice, Practice, Practice…
You don’t run twenty-six miles at five minutes a mile on good looks and a secret recipe. ~Frank Shorter~
In order to accomplish anything worthwhile, preparation is required. The better prepared that you are, the more likely that you will achieve your objectives, and meet with success. One of the biggest mistakes made in bold endeavors, is attempting to do things before the proper time has been taken to prepare the way. Always remember…days of preparation are never wasted days!
Thought for the day
We all have to pay the price for anything good (of substance) to happen in our lives. You don’t get a belly full of recovery until you’ve experienced long term sobriety. We can not expedite wisdom. You can memorize all the sayings and all the program talk and all the spiritual stuff but until you have been around for a year or two or three or five and have experienced the good, the bad and the ugly up close and personal, whatever knowledge you have is basically head stuff…and we know the value of head stuff, don’t we? Be ready to attend lots of meetings (2 or 3 per week), read lots of good spiritual “stuff” and study the Big Book and the Twelve and Twelve. Practice, practice and practice some more. Then watch God use you in mighty ways.
[Put first things first.] Prepare your work outside and get it ready for yourself in the field; and afterward build your house and establish a home.
~Proverbs 24:27 (Amp)~
For since the beginning of the world men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, Nor has the eye seen any God besides You, Who acts for the one who waits for Him. You meet him who rejoices and does righteousness, Who remembers You in Your ways…But now, O LORD, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.
~Isaiah 64:4,5,8 (NKJV)~
Be dressed for service and well prepared, You must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected. If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward. I assure you, the master will put that servant in charge of all he owns.
~Jesus / Luke 12:35,40,43,44 (NLT)~
