Don’t Cower….Be purified!
Great people aren’t those who are happy at times of convenience and content, but of how they are in times of catastrophe and controversy.
~Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.~
Just as gold and silver are purified by fire, so we, through the fires and trials of life, can develop our character. Don’t allow difficulties and misfortune to cause bitterness, resentment, unforgiveness, etc. to take root in your life…but rather, allow yourself to grow through them, knowing that from them you will be strengthened.
Thought for the day
It is critical to share our pain and difficulties with those of like mind (in recovery). By sharing our pain we can be reminded that our lot is a temporary condition and that by experiencing whatever it is that is causing us discomfort we shall grow in strength, character and wisdom. This too shall pass! Can I live this way, sharing, trusting and hoping? The apostle Paul, in his god given wisdom said “be thankful in all things”. Not for all things but in all things, because if we are able to hold on to the truth that He knows more than we do, when we are through this thing we will be stronger and richer for it. And most importantly we will be able to help those who will go thru similar trials and tests.
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
