An Open Door…
“I’m trying to free your mind Neo, but I can only show you the door. You’re the one that has to walk through it!” ~Morpheus (in The Matrix)~
Outward knowledge, without an inward revelation, does not affect a true change within us. Simple mental assent is of little use, and carries no real strength until acted upon. But when that knowledge results in a real change of heart, it eliminates all doubts and fears, and strengthens us to pursue that which we know to be true. K.I.S.S.
Thought for the day
The H.O.W. of how the program works is honesty, open-mindedness and willingness and we need them all if we are to get into and stay in Recovery. Self honesty is first, for without it there is no hope at all that we can stay sober. Open mindedness is crucial for without it we remain convinced that we have all the answers and that we can figure it out on our own. Finally what little good would honesty and open-mindedness be if we did not have the will to act on the solution we learn about? Faith without works is dead. Knowledge without action is useless. There are many drunks and homeless men sleeping in shelters who know they are drunks. They just can’t help themselves! There are such unfortunates. Are we learning and teaching our sponsees that head knowledge is of no use when it comes to recovery? In fact, head knowledge is a total liability for it keeps us forever bound in the lie, the dream that somehow, someday, somewhere we will figure it out. Stop the debate with yourself. Give up the insanity of your thoughts! Walk through the open door before it is too late. Unlike the door God opens for us to walk through for spiritual redemption the door to sanity is not forever open. There are many of us who never make it. Are you ready to “get out of your head”?
So Jesus said again, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that I Myself am the Door for the sheep. All others who came [as such] before Me are thieves and robbers, but the [true] sheep did not listen to and obey them. I am the Door; anyone who enters in through Me will be saved (will live). He will come in and he will go out [freely], and will find pasture. The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). ~John 10:7-10 (Amp)~
And I will give them one heart [a new heart] and I will put a new spirit within them; and I will take the stony [unnaturally hardened] heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh [sensitive and responsive to the touch of their God], That they may walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances, and do them. And they shall be My people, and I will be their God. ~Ezekiel 11:19,20 (Amp
