In the Still…
Muddy water when still becomes clear. ~Ira Progoss~
In the fast-paced environment in which we live today, it is easy to get lost in trying to do more and more. Activity is NOT always the solution in resolving conflict in our lives. In the midst of confusion and uncertainty, sometimes we simply need to cease all activity, and allow a clear plan and purpose to unfold. It is in those moments of complete solitude and rest, that clarity and direction can be found.
Thought for the day
Doing nothing means exactly that. It does not mean staying home and doing a bit of office work. It does not mean working on the honey-do list. It does not mean going shopping. It means doing nothing! How refreshing it is to get to the point when we are OK doing nothing! Many of us are actually afraid to do nothing. Sometimes we actually associate doing nothing with death. Learn to do nothing…and in the process you will find out a good bit about yourself. For one thing, you will not die if you do nothing!
Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD. I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. ~Psalms 4:4,5,8~
Be still, and know that I am God… ~Psalms 46:10~
There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience…Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
~Hebrews 4:9-11,16 (NKJV)~
