It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up. ~Babe Ruth~
One of the single most important elements to achieving success in any area is very simply, refusing to quit. You may have to carry on long after others have counted you out or current circumstances appear completely contrary, to see the victory made manifest in your life. Just continue to persevere and watch what unfolds. Remember the darkness before the dawn.
When the days come, and they surely will, when you feel the world is against you and no one cares and if you were in Vegas all you would be shooting are snake eyes and crapping out, remember what a very wise A.A. once said; “If your ass is falling off, put it in a bag and bring it to a meeting!” So many have given up, just when they might have seen the fulfillment of their vision, if only they had continued on a while longer!
Thought for the day
Whatever fellowship you belong to, it is common to hear say; don’t quit before the miracle happens. We can all be miracles, every single one of us but we must stick around to be one. Just keep coming back…that’s a great start!
One day Jesus told his disciples a story to illustrate their need for constant prayer and to show them that they must never give up. “There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who was a godless man with great contempt for everyone. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, appealing for justice against someone who had harmed her. The judge ignored her for a while, but eventually she wore him out. `I fear neither God nor man,’ he said to himself, `but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’ ” Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this evil judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end, so don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who plead with him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when I, the Son of Man, return, how many will I find who have faith?”
~Luke 18:1-8 (NLT)~
Be sincere in your love for others. Hate everything that is evil and hold tight to everything that is good. Love each other as brothers and sisters and honor others more than you do yourself. Never give up. Eagerly follow the Holy Spirit and serve the Lord. Let your hope make you glad. Be patient in time of trouble and never stop praying. Take care of God’s needy people and welcome strangers into your home. Ask God to bless everyone who mistreats you. Ask him to bless them and not to curse them. Don’t let evil defeat you, but defeat evil with good. ~Romans 12:9-14,21 (CEV)~
The Scriptures say, “God commanded light to shine in the dark.” Now God is shining in our hearts to let you know that his glory is seen in Jesus Christ. We are like clay jars in which this treasure is stored. The real power comes from God and not from us. We often suffer, but we are never crushed. Even when we don’t know what to do, we never give up. In times of trouble, God is with us, and when we are knocked down, we get up again. ~2 Corinthians 4:6-9 (CEV)~
