Give Thanks to the Lord
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow. ~Melody Beattie~
Take time this day to reflect on all the many things that you have to be thankful for. We truly are a blessed people…the mere fact that you are able to read this right now is a testimony to that!
If you can’t give thanks for what you have…give thanks for what you have not. If you can’t give thanks for where you are in life…give thanks for where you are not, prison, psychiatric institution or six feet under. If you can’t be thankful for where you are living…be thankful you are not homeless.
Thought for the day
We addicts hide out in the deepest recesses of our minds always concentrating on negativity for that is fertile ground for our “passive” addiction. Isn’t time we realized we do not own the market on misery? We are not unique. The sun does not rise and set on our ass! And finally we are just one of over 6 billion.
So how about concentrating on the graces we enjoy. There are always many, many real reasons to be grateful. Let them be known today.
Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; ~Ephesians 5:18-20~
For everything God has created is good, and nothing is to be thrown away or refused if it is received with thanksgiving. For it is hallowed and consecrated by the Word of God and by prayer. ~1 Timothy 4:4,5 (Amp)~
