Keeping the Peace…
Until you make peace with who you are, you’ll never be content with what you have. ~Doris Mortman~
Contrary to what many in the world presuppose, the measure of an individual’s real worth is not a function of how many possessions they have, or whatever position they may hold. Either of these can change in a moment’s notice. It’s only through a deep and changeless sense of who you are, whatever your outward conditions and circumstances may be, that lasting peace and contentment may be realized. Don’t allow “things” to define who you are, or your sense of self-worth. The incredible thing about a 12 step program is it allows us through a specific, defined and numbered methodology to move from being people of questionable character to become people of spiritual integrity. Wow…and that can be yours…if the price is right! And what is the price? The willingness to go to any length!
Thought of the day
If you want to look at examples of how not to behave, all one needs to do is look to Washington at our nation’s leaders. It is easy to see men who flip flop on issues depending on which way the winds of fortune and public opinion appear to be blowing. On both sides of the aisles sit individuals who are so far from being people of integrity one has to wonder if we the people who put them in office truly care about such things as honor, truth, courage and conviction. Should it not be mandatory for all our representatives in office to work a good 12 step program?
The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace. ~Psalms 29:11~
For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome. Then you will call upon Me, and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear and heed you. Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
~Jeremiah 29:11-13 (Amp)~
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. ~Jesus / John 14:26,27~
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~Philippians 4:4-7 (NASB)~
