18-11: Something to Think About…

Something to Think About…

Quote
You are searching for the magic key that will unlock the door to the source of power; and yet you have the key in your own hands, and you may use it the moment you learn to control your thoughts. ~Napoleon Hill~

Meditation
Our thought life shapes our ultimate destiny.  The things that we give place to in our minds, are the seeds which will eventually take root and begin to manifest in all that we say, do, and are.  Learning to control our thoughts is therefore a major step to gaining victory in every other area of your life.  Think about it…but not too much!

Thought for the day
You have heard it said that “a mind is a terrible thing to waste” and that may be true, but for an addict I believe that “our minds are like bad neighborhoods…and we shouldn’t go there alone”.  For our day to day life directions we are much better off looking for answers in our hearts, by sharing our difficulties with others in recovery and most importantly thru prayer for discernment and guidance that is consistent with our commitment to spiritual growth.

Scriptures
You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.  So trust in the Lord (commit yourself to Him, lean on Him, hope confidently in Him) forever; for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages].
~Isaiah 26:3,4 (Amp)~

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ…
~2 Corinthians 10:4,5~

And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
~Jesus / Matthew 16:19 (NKJV)~

For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].
~Philippians 4:8 (Amp)~

About SLAA Tilburg
