16-11: Don’t Worry…Be Happy!

Don’t Worry…Be Happy!

Quote
Anxiety is the poison of human life; the parent of many sins and of more miseries.  In a world where everything is doubtful, and where we may be disappointed, and be blessed in disappointment, why this restless stir and commotion of mind? Can it alter the cause, or unravel the mystery of human events? ~Tryon Edwards~

Meditation
Consider those times when we have allowed anxiety to take control of our senses and decision making about issues we may have been facing.  Did the anxiousness serve any purpose other than to rob us of our peace and raise the risk of making poor choices?

Thought for the day
It is a fact that we make much better decisions when we are able to think clearly and analyze situations with a calm approach.  Worry and anxiety do nothing to resolve matters or change their outcome.  Knowing this, why not instead, make the conscious choice to approach such challenges with a sense of calm determination? Could it possibly be that we are still thinking we are God and thereby so important we need to control and solve everything by yesterday?
Lighten up …knowing, that in the real analysis, we are just not that important.  And remember…this too shall pass!

Scriptures
Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.  And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. ~Philippians 4:6,7 (Amp)~

And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?
“And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.”  But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you?  You of little faith!  “Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’  “For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.  “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself…
~Jesus / Matthew 6:27-34 (NASB)~

About SLAA Tilburg
