20-10: So True…

So True…

Quote
The truth of the matter is that you always know the right thing to do.  The hard part is doing it.  ~General H. Norman Schwarzkopf~

Meditation
Oftentimes we are tempted to do things that we know in our heart are not right.  Though it may seem like the easiest way out at the time, the cost of not doing what is right is always far greater than any momentary benefit.  Listen to your heart!

Thought for the day
God does not create CACA!  We were perfectly created at birth for the sole purpose of loving Him and our brothers and sisters.  This is the unblemished truth.  We have all been deformed by our life experiences, mostly during those most precious formative years, when we all needed to be properly cared for.    Through the years our hearts have been hardened by a lack of love, brought on by a variety of traumatic events, loss of loved ones, abusive relationships, personal hardships and so on.  Addiction seemed like such a wonderful alternative to living in the now and having to deal with our stuff.  But, no matter how far down the wrong path we have strayed, rest assured that we all know, deep down inside, what the right thing to do is in every situation!

So today I ask you, what is it that God wants you to do?  Is it to continue to live life as a malcontent wimp of a person cowering and blaming life for everything that happens to you?  Or is it to pick your ass up, put it in a bag and bring it to the next 12 step meeting where you can learn about the solution (turning your life over to Him by taking the steps) to all your life’s difficulties?
I believe deep down inside that God just wants me to do the next right thing today…regardless of any of my rationalizations to the contrary.   How about you…what is your truth?  If you are not yet sober and are still worshipping the God of addiction, I am sure God just wishes for you to sober up and get into recovery where He will meet you on the path to Him.

Scriptures
My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity.  Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.  Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.  Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;  in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. ~Proverbs 3:1-6 (NIV)~

You shall do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD, that (A)it may be well with you and that you may go in and possess the good land which the LORD swore to give your fathers… ~Deuteronomy 6:18 (NASB)~

For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth. ~Psalms 33:4~

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. ~John 8:32 (NIV)~

About SLAA Tilburg
