Our real blessings often appear to us in the shapes of pains, losses and disappointments; but let us have patience, and we soon shall see them in their proper figures. ~Joseph Addison~
Be diligent to look for the good in every situation, every circumstance and every encounter. It may at first appear that none is to be found, but there is indeed always something to be gained, a lesson to be learned, a chance to grow, or unseen opportunity inherent in each one. Seek the good, maintaining a consistent sense of expectation, and it will always be found. The rewards for such patient perseverance throughout times of trial and difficulty will quickly become self-evident.
Thought for the day
Who would think that coming in to SAA, a fellowship of people addicted to acting out sexually could ever have its rewards. How can people so unworthy, so temporarily morally corrupt and so filled with debauchery ever be able to receive God’s mercy and grace? That is exactly what happens as we work the steps of the program. Those whose self esteem is so low because of uncontrolled behavior soon find out that God’s mercy and power is bigger than any addiction. The biggest trial we will ever face is upon us now. Can we resolve to go through that wall of self doubt, spiritual unbelief and physical temptation in order to gain that spiritual knowledge and wisdom that God is ready to gift us with?
Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations. Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience. But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing. ~James 1:2-5 (Amp)~
Do not, therefore, fling away your fearless confidence, for it carries a great and glorious compensation of reward. For you have need of steadfast patience and endurance, so that you may perform and fully accomplish the will of God, and thus receive and carry away [and enjoy to the full] what is promised.
~Hebrews 10:35,36 (Amp)~
And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. ~Romans 5:3-5 (NKJV)~
