An Ear to Hear…
Communication is a two-way street. And while we revel in the reality that we can always get through to heaven, our concern should be whether our Lord can always get through to us. ~Joseph Stowell~
Most of us have become very accomplished at making our needs and wants known, and expressing our desires…even having the faith to believe that if we will only continue to seek, we shall have the desires of our hearts. But often, we are so busy making supplications that we forget to simply be silent and listen for that still small voice that often contains our response. If you feel as though your petitions are not being heard, maybe it’s time to simply be still…and listen.
Thought for the day
Talk about excruciating difficulties; ask an addict to spend even a minute in quiet, clearing his mind of all activities; we may as well ask him to count to a million backwards. We must learn to quiet our minds, stay in the now and clear all activities from our brain and our body if we are to experience the full closeness of being one with God. In this state we will surely hear his answers and not necessarily with our ears!
And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. ~1 Kings 19:11,12~
The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD. ~Proverbs 8:33-35~
Be still, and know that I am God… ~Psalm 46:10~
