I never give ’em hell. I just tell the truth, and they think it’s hell.
~Harry S. Truman~
Everything that we see is filtered through our own unique perspective of who we are. When someone speaks the truth, and your conscience cries out…take a moment to examine yourself and look at your own motives and intentions, before objecting to what was said. While a part of you may want to be offended, it may be just the very thing that you needed to hear, in order to grow and mature in understanding.
Thought for the day
Sometimes the penetrating truth leaves us in a state of absolute bewilderment. We want to deny, strike back in defense or crawl into the nearest hole. We have such fragile egos. For all the confidence we long to exhibit the truth is we are weak… in the spirit. And we shall remain spiritually weak until we decide that we are going to do something about our condition… the ism if you will. So the next time someone offers constructive criticism as a way of getting you to take overdue action in bettering yourself don’t be so quick to defend your “awful position” but look for the light of reason. It will surely be revealed if you are open-minded. And if there is a life lesson contained therein…. chances are you will be amazed by the awesome power of the truth!
Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend [to show rage or worthy purpose]. ~Proverbs 27:17 (Amp)~
A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. ~Proverbs 1:5-7~
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. ~John 1:14,16,17~
…If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. ~Jesus (John 8:31,32)~
