I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere to go. My own wisdom, and that of all about me, seemed insufficient for the day. ~Abraham Lincoln~
It’s comforting to know, that when we have reached the end of all that is in our power to do, there is yet somewhere that we can go for help. We have many very powerful weapons in our arsenal, the power of praise, the power of worship, the power of prayer and supplication. This being the case, why then, do we so often wait until we have nowhere else to turn? Do it now…do it often…in times of trouble, and in times of triumph!
Thought for the day
Why are we so stubborn that hearing the truth about prayer and submission to God’s will often at meetings and from our sponsors, most often we still refuse to change our modus operandi and continue to rely 1st on ourselves and then on God, as if He were some kind of pinch hitter to call upon when there is nothing left to try. When will we learn? We must pray as if everything depends on God and work as if everything depends on us, always staying in His will for us. And that simple life lesson needs to become an integral part of our life goal yesterday, today and tomorrow!
For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers… ~1 Peter 3:12~
The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]. ~James 5:16 (Amp) ~
Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. ~Philippians 4:6,7 (Amp)~
Lord Jesus, as I go forward today, help me to have your mindfulness of God, for you were man among men, yet never forgot or questioned Our Heavenly Father’s faithfulness and His promises. Grant me the power to overcome the obstacles I will face today and in the future, gift me your spirit of obedience to our Father, so that when faced with trials and hardships I may do as you and turn to my Creator as you did when you encountered the cross at Calvary. I ask this in your most holy name, Jesus. Amen.
