Never mention the worst. Never think of it. Drop it out of your consciousness.
~Norman Vincent Peale~
Always look for the good in every circumstance. Negative thoughts can easily become a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you look for the worst to happen…it generally will. If you look for the best to happen…it generally will. Do you find yourself dwelling on negative thoughts? If so…think again!!!
Thought for the day
The meditation above typifies the major problem/obstacle to a life in recovery from addiction. Many sober people go thru tremendous struggles in conquering this struggle when it really is quite simple…I did not say easy.
The best way to recover from addiction is to work on the solution and not the problem. Think about the positive, the benefits of living life as a changed human being, more interested in things from above than from things of this world.
If we will just concentrate each and everyday on what we can do to grow spiritually, like what we can do for the man who still suffers, instead of fighting what “not to do”, like overeating, doing drugs, acting out sexually or any other of the hundreds of actions that drive us away from the Lord, we will soon discover that we are busy each day “growing in the image and likeness of our Creator”. Isn’t that what we should be about?
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he… ~Proverbs 23:6 (Amp)~
Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them]. ~Philippians 4:6-8 (Amp)
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. ~Romans 12:2~
