Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness, and understanding you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again. ~Og Mandino~
When we truly purpose in our heart to be a light to all that we meet, without thought as to what is in it for us, and regardless of how they may treat us, then we begin to fully grasp the reality of "it is better to give than to receive". It will not only serve to transform the lives of those around you, but your own as well.
Thought for the day
Can I go through the day smiling for the entire day? Can I be kind, generous and attentive to all I will meet today? Can I go through the day without taking someone else’s inventory? Can I not pass judgment on others? Ask God to grant you personal freedom today by not letting you pass judgment on another human being. Can I speak only positives today? That would be pretty awesome! Let’s try that just for today…and tonight when we do our nightly inventory, let’s see what happened.
By everything I did, I showed how you should work to help everyone who is weak. Remember that our Lord Jesus said, "More blessings come from giving than from receiving." ~Acts 20:35 (CEV)~
Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed. ~1 Timothy 6:18-19 (NASB)~
Never return evil for evil or insult for insult (scolding, tongue-lashing, berating), but on the contrary blessing [praying for their welfare, happiness, and protection, and truly pitying and loving them]. For know that to this you have been called, that you may yourselves inherit a blessing [from God–that you may obtain a blessing as heirs, bringing welfare and happiness and protection]. For let him who wants to enjoy life and see good days [good–whether apparent or not] keep his tongue free from evil and his lips from guile (treachery, deceit).
~1 Peter 3:8-10 (Amp)~
