Love is a force more formidable than any other. It is invisible–it cannot be seen or measured, yet it is powerful enough to transform you in a moment, and offer you more joy than any material possession could. ~Barbara De Angelis~
The one force in this universe that will always prevail over any other is love. When freely given, a wonderful thing happens…it multiplies, and it grows, and is returned in abundance. It truly is the substance of miracles!
Thought for the day
Most of us know little about love. Because we’ve had traumatic experiences, often at the hands of those who were supposed to love us during childhood or as adolescents we have misshapen ideas of what love truly is. Often we confuse intimacy, sex or friendship. As we recover, let’s resolve to learn all we can about the action of love.
I have learned one very important thing about love, and that is that without investing time, there can be no love! So if you want to learn to love, the first requirement is the commitment to spend time on that which you wish to love. This of course creates within us a tremendous internal battle because for the most part we are selfish and self obsessed. We are willing to write checks and buy gifts, but our time…well that is different. Don’t tell people you love them…show people you love them, by sacrificing that which is the most valuable gift you have to give…your time!
Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious or boils over with jealously, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. Love never fails…~1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (Amp)~
Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.~1 John 4:7-10
