Onward and Upward…
Life is a series of experiences, each one of which makes us bigger, even though it is hard to realize this. For the world was built to develop character, and we must learn that the setbacks and griefs which we endure help us in our marching onward. ~Henry Ford~
Once we truly learn to view every situation as an opportunity for spiritual and emotional growth and development we are truly “on the way”. When we seek to learn from our experiences, rather than hide, our attitudes are forever transformed. It is not what happens to us that sets the course for our life experience, but how we elect to respond to it.
Thought for the day
One of the fundamental principles to living life as a victor, rather than a victim is not to take everything so serious. In an addict’s life nothing is ever as important and final as we make it out to be. We are all such drama queens! Nothing needs to be solved right now. To put off a decision is a decision in itself. Let’s lighten up; after all we are only one of 6 billion! So next time you are considering suicide because you’ve lost your job and you are going to have to cut out your daily $5 Frapuccino at Starbucks, just think about the millions who can’t afford to buy a .25 cup of coffee. Sometimes we just need to get grounded and anchored in order to “get real”.
Happy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) is the man who finds skillful and godly Wisdom, and the man who gets understanding [drawing it forth from God’s Word and life’s experiences]… ~Proverbs 3:13 (Amp)~
Moreover [let us also be full of joy now!] let us exult and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patience and unswerving endurance. And endurance (fortitude) develops maturity of character (approved faith and tried integrity). And character [of this sort] produces [the habit of] joyful and confident hope… ~Romans 5:3,4 (Amp)~
And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favor], Who has called you to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen and settle you. ~1 Peter 5:10 (Amp)~
