What A Shame…

What A Shame…

Whatever is begun in anger ends in shame. ~Benjamin Franklin~

Striking out in anger or frustration never solves anything and can only make a situation worse.  It is one of the most destructive emotions for everyone concerned.  When you find yourself losing your temper, step back from the situation immediately, and carefully weigh your thoughts and actions before responding.  You will always be thankful that you did!

Thought for the day

The 12 & 12 tells me that no matter the cause, whenever I am disturbed, there is always something wrong with me and that I need to go off by myself and “chill”. Slowly assessing the situation, I need to recognize that others are also spiritually sick and pray not only for a peaceful, personal resolution of the situation but for all the parties involved.  These are mighty difficult assignments for addicts of any type.  But then again, no one has ever told me that life is fair or that this recovery program is easy.  It is simple…but it will require all the will power (to do the right thing) that we can muster.

Stop your anger!  Turn from your rage!  Do not envy others–it only leads to harm.  Those who control their anger have great understanding; those with a hasty temper will make mistakes…A gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger…People with good sense restrain their anger; they earn esteem by overlooking wrongs.  ~Psalm 37:8, Proverbs 14:29,15:1,19:11 (NLT)~

When angry, do not sin;  do not ever let your wrath (your exasperation, your fury or indignation) last until the sun goes down.  Leave no [such] room or foothold for the devil [give no opportunity to him]. ~Ephesians 4:26,27 (Amp)~

But now put away and rid yourselves [completely] of all these things;  anger, rage, bad feeling toward others, curses and slander, and foulmouthed abuse and shameful utterances from your lips!  Do not lie to one another, for you have stripped off the old (unregenerated) self with its evil practices.  And have clothed yourselves with the new [spiritual self], which is ever in the process of being] renewed and remolded into [fuller and more perfect knowledge upon] knowledge after the image (the likeness) of Him Who created it. ~Colossians 3:8-10 (Amp)~

About SLAA Tilburg
