Love is not blind…it sees more, not less. But because it sees more, it is willing to see less. ~Rabbi Julius Gordon~
In order to truly walk in love, it is often necessary to see beyond the moment…beyond temperaments…beyond the behaviors and actions of those we interact with each and every day, that can so easily lead us into angry responses and strife. The interesting thing is, the more we strive to respond in love in every circumstance, the more we recognize that not only are the hearts and lives of others changed as a result, but our own most of all.
Thought for the day
Why is it so difficult not to put up our dukes? Why do we, in spite of the fact that we know better, automatically resort to retaliation and defensiveness? Why is it so hard for me to turn the other cheek? If we are beyond step 9 we now should know that there is absolutely zero benefit in allowing poison to seep in to our hearts and close ourselves up. There is a better way and it is the way of Love!
Is it easier to love or to hate? The answer is simple; hate requires nothing, love requires sacrifice, unselfishness, discipline and commitment. Love is not the easier softer way…it is an action word! Are you a true lover?
Jesus answered: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. This is the first and most important commandment. The second most important commandment is like this one. And it is, "Love others as much as you love yourself." All the Law of Moses and the Books of the Prophets are based on these two commandments. ~Matthew 22:37-40 (CEV)~
Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails…
~1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NASB)~
Follow God’s example in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love for others, following the example of Christ, who loved you and gave himself as a sacrifice to take away your sins. And God was pleased, because that sacrifice was like sweet perfume to him. ~Ephesians 5:1,2
