“Half measures availed us nothing”!

“Half measures availed us nothing”!

Quote
Unless commitment is made, there are only promises and hopes…
but no plans. ~Peter Drucker~

Meditation
It is not enough to simply know the promises that have been given, and the hope of our calling (To be godly men and women).  A conscious commitment must be made to pursue it, no matter what, until such time as it is realized.  Half-hearted efforts will only bring mediocre results at best.  But when steadfast commitment is made to pursue the vision to its’ final conclusion, at all costs, then is one’s true potential brought into focus, and destiny begins to unfold.

Thought for the day
We must strive each and every day to seek perfection, in our actions and our thoughts.  Early in sobriety we concentrate on our actions, our behavior.  Why? Because we must change the way we live life to give recovery and spiritual growth a chance to flourish in us.  Soon thereafter we must begin to work on our thought life for it is the source of our problems.  Giving way to impure thoughts is just another way to sabotage our recovery.  There is another simpler way to keep the above in mind and focus.  Let’s remember what we read in our “routine” reading of How It Works” every time we attend 12 Step meetings.  “Half measures availed us nothing”!

Scriptures
As for me, I would seek God and inquire of and require Him, and to God would I commit my cause–Who does great things and unsearchable, marvelous things without number, So that He sets on high those who are lowly, and those who mourn He lifts to safety.  He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise or anything of [lasting] worth.  He catches the [so-called] wise in their own trickiness, and the counsel of the schemers is brought to a quick end.  But [God] saves [the fatherless] from the sword of their mouth, and the needy from the hand of the mighty.  So the poor have hope, and iniquity shuts her mouth.  Happy and fortunate is the man whom God reproves; so do not despise or reject the correction of the Almighty [subjecting you to trial and suffering.  He will rescue you in six troubles; in seven nothing that is evil [for you] will touch you.  At destruction and famine you shall laugh, neither shall you be afraid of the living creatures of the earth.  For you shall be in league with the stones of the field, and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with you.  And you shall know that your tent shall be in peace, and you shall visit your fold and your dwelling and miss nothing [from them].  You shall come to your grave in ripe old age. This is what we have searched out; it is true. Hear and heed it and know for yourself [for your good]. ~Job 5:8,9,11-13,15-17,19,22-24,26,27 (Amp)~

About SLAA Tilburg
